CANDY JUNKO OSHITA McVAY, 67, of Sherwood, Ark. passed away Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010. She was born June 2, 1943 in Tule Lake, Calif. in a WWII Japanese internment camp to the late Jack and Margaret Oshita. Candy graduated from Rockford West High School in 1961 and from Swedish American Hospital School of Nursing in 1966 in Rockford, Ill. Candy worked at Arkansas Children's Hospital as an operating room R.N. for 30 years until she retired Nov. 12, 2010. She loved traveling with family, spending time with her grandchildren and making various crafts for the enjoyment of others. Cherishing her memory are her husband of 43 years, G.W. "Mac" McVay; three children, Donna Lynn Hagewood and husband Brian of Jacksonville, Corinne Marie Hammond and husband Sean of Harrisburg and Garry Wade McVay and wife Shari of Conway; six grandchildren, Taylor Paige Hammond, Garrett Walker Hammond, Lauren Briann Hagewood, Alyssa Lynn Hagewood, Hunter Nathaniel Hagewood and Aiden Jack McVay; four siblings, Joy Gruidl and husband Al of Plano, Ill., Jaxon Oshita and wife Linda of Rockford, Ill., Keane Oshita and wife Deb of Arlington Heights, Ill. and Amy Oshita of Schaumburg, Ill. and a host of friends and other relatives. A celebration of Candy's life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011. in the chapel of Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock (501) 835-3515, with Bro. Steve Walter officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 at funeral home.
