Darrel W. Haynes

Dr. Darrel W. Haynes, age 69, of Benton, born August 27, 1941, lost his battle with cancer on January 3, 2011 surrounded by his three children, Matthew Haynes, Simon Haynes and Gail McGaughy. Survived by his six adoring grandchildren and his children's spouses. Darrel courageously immigrated his family from England in 1976 for a rewarding career in orthopedic research at UAMS and Johns Hopkins University. After retirement, Darrel lived the American entrepreneural dream by owning a resort on Lake Hamilton. Darrel had a profound passion for Arkansas and his beloved Lake Ouachita, and could be found most weekends on his houseboat. Special gratitude to Elizabeth, Cathy, Dr. Gentry and Dr. Hayes for their outstanding medical care. A private family memorial will be held.
