Johnny W. Starkey, 92, of North Little Rock passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011. He was born in Pulaski County, Ark. to the late William Sherrod and Esther C. McKenzie Starkey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Thelma Humphries Starkey, six sisters and two brothers. Johnny was a member of Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church and the Wesley Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force and also was retired from his Service Station business. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and the Razorbacks. Johnny was a loving and caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by two daughters, Eileen Morehart (Ed) of Little Rock and Christie Higgins (Mike) of North Little Rock, five grandchildren, Mike Morehart (Missy), David Higgins (Debbie), Nick Higgins, Shelley Bartholmey (Jon) and Ashley Keathley (Drew), seven great-grandchildren, Zach, Peyton, Landon, Kylie, and Bryce Higgins, Jacob Morehart and Layla Bartholmey, along with a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400). Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2011 at Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Edgewood Memorial Park. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church Trustee Fund, 1723 Schaer St. North Little Rock, Ark. 72114.
