Rachel L. Hardin

MARTHA RACHEL (LASTER) HARDIN passed away on Jan. 13, 2011 in Maumelle, Ark. at 92 years of age. Ms. Hardin was born on March 29, 1918 to the late Charles E. Laster, Sr. and Effie Dickey Laster in Scott, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Hardin and her brother Charles E. Laster, Jr. She is survived by "her boys" - nephews Stan Laster (Nancy) of Plano, Texas, Scott Laster (Donna) of Allen, Texas and Russ Laster (Janet) of Maumelle, Ark. and by her cousin, Delores Lee of Little Rock. As their "GiGi", she is also survived by her beloved great nieces and great nephew, Abbey Laster and Lizzie Laster of Allen, Texas; Allyson Laster and Madeline Laster of Maumelle, Ark. and Hudson Laster of Maumelle, Ark. Rachel lived a remarkably full life in which she traveled all over the world. Her independence and self reliance were legendary to her family and all who knew her. And her life ran full cycle, tinged with both great elation and with great sorrow but through it all she kept her faith, determination, optimism and wit. Rachel was truly a wonderful person and all who knew her and loved her will miss her but we are also so appreciative to have been able to enjoy "the pleasure of her company". And we wish her a peace well earned. A funeral service will be held to celebrate her life on Monday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Griffin Leggett Healely & Roth Funeral Home chapel at 5800 W. 12th St, Little Rock, Ark. 501-661-9111. Rev. David Moore will officiate. A graveside service will follow at Mt. Holly Cemetery at 1200 South Broadway in Little Rock. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to Rachel's church of over 30 years, Asbury United Methodist Church, 1700 Napa Valley Dr., Little Rock, Ark. 72212.
