Bobby Joe Hook Sr., 72, of Quitman, passed away January 22, 2011, at his home. He was born April 11, 1938, to the late Roy and Helen Hook, of Clarksville, Ark. He was a Navy Veteran, retiring in 1975, as a Sr. Chief Petty Officer. After retirement from the Navy the family returned to his home state, where he was employed and retired from Stromberg-Carlson/General Dynamics, in Camden, Ark. After retirement from General Dynamics he spent several years working for Brentwood Industries, in Hope, Ark. In 1997, Bob and Ruth moved to their present home in Quitman. He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of The Church of the Nazarene, in Greenbrier, Ark. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his only son, Bobby Joe Hook, Jr; one sister Bea Towery; and two brothers, Roy Hook Jr., and Jerry Hook. Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth; a daughter, Karen Barnett and her husband, Darren, of Sheridan, Ark.; a daughter-in-law, Lauren Hook, of McKinney, Texas; four grandchildren, Taylor and Sydney Barnett of Sheridan and Emily and Wyatt Hook of McKinney, Texas; two brothers, Bill Hook and his wife, Estel, of Arizona and Lewis Hook and his wife, Pam, of Florida; and one sister, Doris Brown and her husband, Phil, of Illinois. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, in Greenbrier. The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Greenbrier Church of the Nazarene. There will be a committal service and interment at 3 p.m., Thursday, January 27, at West Mt.
