Dewey Edward Leggitt

Dewey Edward Leggitt of Jacksonville went home to be with Jesus on June 5, 2011. He was born to the late Neely and Florence (Raney) Leggitt on October 6, 1913. He was a faithful member of Calvary Apostolic Church. He worked at various jobs before and after, but during World War II, he worked at the Ordinance Plant making ammunition for our men and boys to fight with. Later, he managed the Farmers Association. He enjoyed working with animals, gardening, and fishing. He is preceded in death by wives Geneva (Brooks) Leggitt, Grace (Dixon) Leggitt, Wanna (Corbin) Leggitt, and Alma (Dobbs) Leggitt. Also, a daughter, Betty Jo Leggitt; a son, Monty E. Leggitt; a grandson, Randy Leggitt; sisters Clara Cargile, Ella Waller, Marsell Brooks; and brothers, Solon, Cecil and Dillard Leggitt preceded him in death. He is survived by one daughter, JoAnna Rowley (Jerry); one sister, Syble Mullinax; grandchildren, Deborah Allen (Jim), Karen Sexton (Chip), Rev. Jerry Rowley Jr. (Frankie), Jennifer Uzzle (Billy), Rev. Joe Rowley (Tonya), and JeLinda Daniel (Brent); daughter-in-law, Christene Leggitt. Other survivors include 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren along with nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Arkansas Funeral Care, 2620 W. Main Street, Jacksonville, Ark. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at First Pentecostal Church of Gravel Ridge. Interment following at Crestlawn Memorial Park of Conway (Highway 64 E).
