Emma N. Hammett, 87, of Little Rock went to be with her Heavenly Father, Sunday, June 5, 2011. She was born June 19, 1923 at Damascus, Arkansas, daughter of the late James Harvey Payne and Melvina Lee Payne. She was employed at Westinghouse Lamp Plant for 38 years. She was a full-time caregiver for her special son "Butch" for all of his 67 years and was a member of Wellington Assembly of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fandy E. Hammett on October 21, 2010; a son, Sherrill David Poche'; two brothers, D.L. Payne and Bill Payne; and four sisters, Adria Stroud, Marcella DeGono, Mildred Hall and Gola Lee. She is survived by two sons, Jerry Hammett of Solgohachia and Gary Hammett (Hazel) of Forsyth, Missouri; a daughter, Phyllis Poché of Little Rock; grandchildren, Richard Smith, Christopher Hammett, Rebecca Cuming, Karen Hill, Joe Hammett, Mike Hammett, Jesse Hammett, Tammy Harris and Dena Grisham; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Morris L. Payne (Oneta) of Damascus; numerous nieces; nephews; and extended family. The family will receive friends at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home (501)224-8300 from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2011. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Donald Shipley officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Spires Cemetery in Damascus.
