James "Mac" McElroy

Sgt. James "Mac" McElroy, 30, of Petal, Miss., (formerly of Little Rock), died June 6, 2011 at Fort Benning, Georgia. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Crosspoint Church following visitation from 9:30 –11:30 a.m. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Vancleave Cemetery. Sgt. McElroy recently returned from his third tour in Afghanistan, serving with the Mississippi National Guard. He also served in Afghanistan with the U.S. Marine Corps and in Iraq with the Mississippi National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Rosemarie McElroy. He is survived by his wife, Alicia Eder McElroy of Petal; son, Dane James McElroy of Petal; brother, Staff Sgt. Luke Thomas of Texas; father and mother-in-law, Don and Glynda Eder; sister-in-law, Lauren Eder; grandparents-in-law, Albert and Margaret Eder; nieces, Angelina and Alanna Thomas; nephews, Layton Eder and Cole Thomas; and special friends, Randall and Amanda Jones.
