Arvel Lee Cowell, 86, of Ward died at his home Monday, June 13, 2011. He was born May 4, 1925 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Harvey Milton and Mahaley Jane (Smith) Cowell. Survivors include his wife, Nora Lee (Hunt) Cowell, two daughters, Virginia Ortiz, and Mallie Elrod, both of Elk City, Oklahoma, 12 grandchildren, 26cgreat-grandchildren, and six great0great-grandchildren. He was preceded n death by his parents, four brothers, one sister, one daughter, Patsy Brothwell, and one granddaughter, Gwen. Visitation is 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday at Garth Funeral Home in Des Arc.
