Penelope Constance Stokes

Penelope Constance "Critzos" Stokes, 89, of Dermott AR passed away Monday, June 13, 2011 at her residence in Dermott. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Dermott, Alumni at University of Mary Washington, a member of Current Topic in Dermott, and a teacher for the Business College of Hampton Roads in Hampton, Virginia. Mrs. Stokes was born to the late Constantine and Helen Critzos on March 24, 1922 in Newport News, Va. She is survived by her husband George Stokes Sr. of Dermott, Ark., two sons; George Nicholas Stokes Jr. and Mason Faraday Stokes both of Houston, Texas, one daughter; Alicyn Kozlowski of Pittsburg, Pa., one sister; O. Constance Critzos of Houston, Texas, and eight grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Stokes will be 10 a.m., Friday June 17, 2011 at the Dermott Presbyterian Church with Brother Kenny Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Dermott Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Service in McGehee. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials are made to the University of Mary Washington Foundation General Scholar Fund, 1119 Hanover St., Fredericksburg Va. 22401 in memory of Penelope Stokes.
