Wanda Graves Young, 83, of Hot Springs died Saturday, June 11, 2011. She was born Feb. 10, 1928 in Ft. Smith, Ark. to John Franklin and Emma Irene Graves. Wanda was a member of the 1945 Fort Smith High School graduating class. Her passion was painting and sculpting beautiful works of art which she gladly shared with family and friends. As a long time volunteer and Board member of the Fort Smith Girls Club, she enjoyed teaching art classes to the young ladies. She was an Arkansas State Trap Shooting Champion for a number of years, also enjoying bridge, golfing and flower gardening. Wanda was known for her devotion to her constant friend and companion, her husband of 63 years, Charles H. Young. Loving survivors include her husband, Charles H. Young, of Hot Springs; two sons, Charles W. and wife Ranie Young, of Dallas and James F. and wife Mary Ellen Young, of Chicago; daughter, Linda I. Young, of Little Rock; brother, John Graves; sister, Wilma Green; five grandchildren, Charles Murray, Patrick Murray, Virginia Young, Clayton Young and Madeline Young. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Eva Ramirez, Wanda's caregiver of many years, for her love, commitment and support. We also thank Sandra Adams and Raquel Herrera, caregivers, for providing excellent care and assistance. The family held a private memorial service in Wanda's honor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the National Alzheimer's Association or the UAMS/Schmieding Center, 2422 N.
