William "Bill" Barrett

Col. William "Bill" Barrett, (Retired), 73, of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died on June 16, 2011. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Village Bible Church in Hot Springs Village, Ark. Bill was born on Feb. 21, 1938 in Chattanooga, Tenn. to the late Doyle Barrett and Willie Morris Barrett. He proudly served his country for 30 years as an Army officer. He was a helicopter pilot, did two tours of duty in Vietnam, and two stints at the Pentagon. He was a member of the Village Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Alice Barrett, a son, John Scott Barrett, and a sister Nancy Barrett Roulaine. Bill is survived by his son, Bill Barrett and wife Becky of Hamilton, Texas; sister-in-law, Barbara Darrah Tompkins of Sheffield, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Joshua Ryan Campbell, Sean Casey Willmon, and Spencer Austin Willmon. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the Village Bible Church or to Doctors Without Borders.
