Betty W. McLeod, 81, of Little Rock, passed away February 27, 2011 of complications from surgery. She was born in Camden to Fred G. and Mary Ann Bradshaw Walker and grew up there with three siblings, Edwin, Fred and Bobby. After graduating from Camden High in 1947, she attended Southern Arkansas University and Texas State Teachers College and received her Masters in teaching from UALR. She had a distinguished career in the Little Rock Public School System. Betty spent most of her adult life in Little Rock and was very active in the community with various charitable, political and humanitarian causes. She loved to travel and play bridge with her friends and also enjoyed knitting and needlework. She was a very active member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church and volunteered extensively during her retirement. She is survived by her sons, Brad McLeod and Bill McLeod, both of Little Rock; daughter, Debbie McLeod of Tybee Island, Georgia; and one granddaughter, Mia McLeod of Bozeman, Montana. Services will be held on Thursday, March 3 at 1 p.m. at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church, officiated by Dr. Jeffrey Hampton. Memorials may be made to the Church.
