Marion Kendrick (Kenny) Benton Jr.

Marion Kendrick (Kenny) Benton Jr. of Simpsonville, S.C. passed from this earth to join his father on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 at McCall's Hospice Center in Simpsonville. He was 41. Born in Puerto Rico, he is the son of his late father Marion K. Benton Sr. and mother Carolyn E. Phippin. Kenny is survived by his wife Jamie Benton and stepsons Jeffrey and Stephen Bauer; his mother, Carolyn Phippin and stepfather Brent Phippin; six siblings Jerry Benton, Penny Benton, Jeanie Flad, Alison Benton, Melvin Phippin, and Aric Phippin. Kenny was a wonderful man of honor and quick wit who bravely fought a battle with cancer and never lost his kind, gentle, and fun-loving attitude. He brought so much happiness to his family and all who knew him. Kenny will be greatly missed by all of us. Kenny's cremation will be performed by the Cremation Society of South Carolina in Greenville, S.C. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at The House in Simpsonville, S.C. on March 12 at 12. Kenny's family would like to invite all friends and family members to enjoy memories of this great man. By family request, in lieu of flowers, charitable donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
