Max Albert Mull, 81, of Pulaski County, Ark., passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011. Max was formerly the head of the Arkansas Soil Conservation Service and spent 26 years in federal government service. In that capacity, he moved numerous times and was posted throughout Missouri and Arkansas. Max previously farmed and grew up on the "Mound" farm near Shelbyville, Mo. Following government service, he owned the Mull Map Service in Marceline, Mo. Max was an outdoorsmen, wood worker, avid reader, volunteer fire fighter and gardener. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force and graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia. He gave his family a strong ethical and moral example and a love of the land. Max was born in Perry, MO, on August 24, 1929, and was the son of Marvin Mull and Mamie Woodrow. He was preceded in death by his parents; and beloved granddaughter, Courtney Renee Sipes. Survivors include his adored wife of 61 years, Irene Cecilia Latchford Mull, whom he proposed to on their first date; daughter and son-in-law, Laticia and Jim Dittrich of Williams Junction, Ark.; daughter and son-in-law, Lavena and Tracy Sipes; grandson, Cameron Sipes of Smithtown, N.Y.; grandchildren, Addison and Johanna Dittrich of Williams Junction, Ark., Taylor Dittrich of Denver, Colo., and Chelsea Dittrich of Little Rock, Ark.; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Virginia Mull of Columbia, Mo; sister, Nancy Scheiner of Kansas City, Mo.; and sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Joe Roscoe of Stillwater, Okla. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, Ark. (501-455-1067).
