Cindy Lueken Steele (51) passed away on March 9, 2011. Cindy was born in Helena, Ark. to Bob and Ruth Lueken. She is survived by her husband, Jeff; mother, Ruth Lueken; her sister, Susan and husband Chuck Schweiss of Monument, Colo., her sister Ruth Ann and husband John of Albuquerque, N.M.; her cherished nephews and nieces, Erik and Sarah Schweiss, Margaret, Johnny, and Claire Thompson, and her special Aunt Eva Crawford of Helena, and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members. Cindy was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society, the Helena Little Theater, and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. She graduated from Arkansas Tech University and became a school teacher where she taught in Arkansas, Texas, Germany, Colorado, and the last 15 years at DeSoto School. Cindy's great love was teaching and it was her life's work to positively impact students. These students in turn brought great joy and happiness to her life. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. Cindy fought a valiant four year battle with cancer. Her family wishes to thank the many friends and organizations who helped in this battle. Rosary and visitation will be Sunday, March 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena, Ark. A funeral mass will be Monday, March 14 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Helena at 10 a.m. The family requests memorials be made to St Mary's Catholic Church and DeSoto School.
