Mr. A.E. "Gene" Wright, age 86, of Benton died Tuesday March 15, 2011. He was born February 1, 1925 in Bauxite. Gene retired from Reynolds Metals Co. after 31 years, owner of Gene's Small Engines in Benton for 28 years, was a member of the Bauxite Masonic Lodge for 50 years, and a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran. He was a long time member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist church and United Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Oscola Wright, brothers, Edward and Charles Wright, sisters, Ottis Woods and Pauline McGee. Survivors, wife of 64 years, Louise Reynolds Wright, Benton; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Herb Porter, Gautier, Mississippi; brothers, Arnold Wright and wife Frances, Benton; Tommy Wright and his wife Wanda, Benton; sisters, Pat Stuckey and husband Bill, Benton; Susie Wright, Benton; and Lois Howard and her husband Gary, Benton; one grandson Aaron Porter, Mobile, Alabama. Family gives a special thank you to StoneyBrook Health and Rehab for their love and care. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday at Ashby Funeral Home Chapel with burial at New Rosemont Cemetery. Minister will be Bro. Randy Ward. Visitation will be at Ashbys, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday. Pallbearers: James Smith, Richard Moore, Don Benham, Curt McGee, David Ramsey and Allen Wright. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Bauxite Community Hall at Bauxite.
