Marve McKenzie

Marve C. McKenzie Jr., age 90, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia after a long illness. He was born on November 27, 1920 in Whelen Springs, the son of Marve C. and Annie Frizzell McKenzie, Sr. Marve was a cattle farmer and a member of Whelen Springs Baptist Church. He was a World War II United States Army medic. Marve is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Lively McKenzie, one daughter, Michaelyn McKenzie Morehead, two sons, Mike (Kim) McKenzie and Miles McKenzie, six grandchildren, Lynsey (Mitch) Plyler, Krista, Taylor, Beau, Tori and Ashley, two great grandchildren, Noah and Tessa Plyler, three sisters, Juanita (Paul) Barringer, Ann B. Calley and Marry Ella (Rodney) Ryan and a host of nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed by a loving family. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Whelen Springs Baptist Church with Rusty Jones and Randy Cox officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Pallbearers will be Bruno Leon, Milton Franklin, Mark Clark, Oscar Escobar, Jerry Gates and David Miller.
