Charles William Thompson

Rev. Charles W. Thompson, age, 78, of Heber Springs, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord November 3, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernice Thompson, one son Kevin Thompson and wife Melissa of Heber Springs, two sisters, Mattie Brown and husband Gene of Trumann, Arkansas, Annette Crow and husband David of Texas, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by one son, Tommy Thompson, one daughter, Glenda Ruffin, his mother and father, Albert and Birdie Thompson and one sister, Sherry Thompson. Rev. Thompson was a Methodist minister for 17 years, serving as pastor of Methodist churches in north Arkansas, until entering into an evangelistic ministry in 1974. He traveled extensively, during his 38 years as an evangelist, ministering in churches and city-wide meetings. During the summer months he conducted tent crusades in Arkansas and throughout the nation. He also made several missionary trips. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2011 at The Prevailing Word Christian Center, 133 Frauenthal, in Heber Springs under the direction of the Heber Springs Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Heber Springs Funeral Home on 1199 Wilburn Road in Heber Springs.
