ROBERT CHARLES BIRDSONG, 68, of Little Rock died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, in a motorcycle accident. He was born in Heber Springs in 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jessie Majors Birdsong and his sister, Janet Kay Birdsong. Bobby is survived by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Margaret. Other survivors are a son, Bob Birdsong and his wife, Blake, of Conway; a daughter, Stacy Birdsong Wright and her husband, Jeff, of Baton Rouge; grandson, Axel Bennett Birdsong; step-granddaughter, Delia Murray; and two sisters, Jo Ann Lassiter of Newport and Pat Hitt of Little Rock. He also leaves behind many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews whom he loved. Bobby was employed by Diamond International Trucks for 25 years where he had many friends. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was an unpretentious, hard-working man with a great sense of humor, who loved music, especially blues, jazz, bluegrass, and zydeco. He enjoyed golf, racing, and motorcycle riding. He was a cancer survivor. His presence, love, and sense of humor will leave a void that no one can fill. We love you, Bobby. A service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m., at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church at Kavanaugh and Pine Valley Street in Little Rock. Visitation will follow in the parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the New Orleans Habitat Musicians' Village, Inc.
