Sharon Rektor

Sharon Rektor passed away on her 69th birthday, on Sept. 29, 2011, in Springdale, Ark. Sharon grew up in Madison County, first at Wharton Creek, then Huntsville. She spent 35 years in Little Rock working as a computer programmer for the State at ESD. She retired nine years ago to Springdale. She loved her part-time job at JCPenney before her health forced her to quit. Sharon was beloved by family, friends, coworkers, and many others whose lives she brightened. She was known for writing Santa letters, never forgetting to send cards for birthdays or anniversaries, and organizing get-togethers. She was especially kindhearted to animals, strays, and people down on their luck. She was known to be a jokester and gave much joy and laughter to many. She was fiercely proud of her three daughters and loved her five grandchildren tenderly. She was a good mother, sister, relative, and friend. Sharon went home peacefully to be with her Lord, her mother and other loved ones. Our Sharon was survived by three daughters, Jamie Lothian and husband Paul of Springdale, Melissa Hotary of Hot Springs, and Robyn Rektor of Little Rock; two sisters, Mary Coger of Collierville, Tenn., and Betty and husband Kay of Huntsville; two brothers Bob and wife Pat Fancher of Joplin, and Joe and wife Kathleen Fancher of Springdale; five grandchildren, Josh and wife Natalie Hotary of Rogers, Colton Hotary of Springdale, Ashli Hotary of Russellville, and Tyler and Jordyn Lothian of Springdale; 10 nieces and nephews; and 17 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian Olga Steele Fancher and Robert Burney Fancher. None of us will ever forget how she touched our lives. Sharon will be interred at Huntsville Cemetary at 1 p.m., on Saturday, followed by a celebration of her life memorial service at 1:30 p.m., at Huntsville First Presbyterian Church. Donations in her honor can be made to Humane Society of the Ozarks at www.hsozarks.org. Guestbook can be signed at www.brashearsfuneralhome.net.
