Evelyn Cook McDougale

Evelyn Cook McDougale, 84, of Pine Bluff, passed Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born August 4, 1927 in Louisiana, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pat McDougale; her infant son, Michael McDougale; her grandson, Jeffrey Bolen of Star City; her parents Henry Christopher Cook and Virginia Barton (Spigener) Cook of Sterlington, La.; and sisters, Mary "Mamie" Concelli of West Monroe, La. and Bonnie Moore of Sterlington, La. She is survived by brothers Henry Cook of West Monroe, La. and Norman Cook of Farmerville, La.; sisters, Barbara Wheeler and Virginia Ann Cook both of Sterlington, La.; two sons, Paul McDougale and Sharon of Pine Bluff, Richard McDougale and Monica of Nahunta, Ga.; and two daughters, Dianne Bolen and Jerry, and Pat Conner, all of Pine Bluff. She was loved by nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and by special family friends Charlie and Kay Dobis of Pine Bluff and Martha Burns of Star City. Prior to her retirement from the Tyson Family Store in Pine Bluff, she spent many years as a homemaker. Among her favorite pastimes were crossword puzzles and crocheting, and she was a past Worthy Matron of Star City Chapter 608 of the Order of the Eastern Star. At the time of her passing, she was a resident of Gardner Nursing Home in Star City and attended the Church of Christ in Star City. Previously, she was a longtime member of the Grady Church of Christ. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City and will be officiated by David Goff. Burial will be in Shell Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mark Dutton, Glenn Haley, Danny Thomas, Jimmy Drummond, Gene Pharr, Edwin Branson and David Burns. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn McDougale, Dewayne McDougale and Corey Kilpatrick. The family and friends will gather at Evelyn's home at 68 Ashland Drive on Hwy. 425 between Star City and Pine Bluff. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
