Jack Brooks Ross of Grapevine, Arkansas was born January 6, 1940 in Grapevine, the son of the late Earl P. and Ida Crossett Ross. He was a member of Sardis Missionary Baptist Church at Grapevine; was co-founder of Bradford-Ross Hunting Club and was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and running his dogs. He dearly loved spending time with his grandkids and it can definitely be said of Jack, that he "Never met a stranger." Mr. Ross died Monday, October 10, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 71. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ted, Ned, A.C. and Richard Ross. Survivors: wife, Jackie Harter Ross of Grapevine; sons, Albert Ross of Grapevine; Johnny "Tootie" Ross and wife Cindy of Lewisville; Mark Ross of Grapevine; daughter, Jackie Kendrick and husband BoBo of Grapevine; brother, Jerry Ross of Benton; sisters, Ida Nell Rush and Joyce Earl Updegraff both of Alabama; grandchildren; Amber and husband James Bobo, Jason and wife Kristi Ross, Candice and husband Shannon Knight, Matt Ross, Jade Ross, Parrish Ross, Harlee Stayton, Presley Ross and Jacob Dyar and a great grandchild, Emerie Ross, as well as a host of nieces and nephews who knew him as "Uncle Fat." Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. O.J. Ramick and Bro. Ronald Young officiating. Burial will follow at Grapevine Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
