Joe Deal Dickens, 88, of Greenbrier, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Covenant Care in Greenbrier, where he had lived for the last four years. He was the son to the late Thomas J. and Mary Lieblong Dickens. Joe served his country during World War II, installing, repairing, and maintaining military communications systems. He was awarded several citations in the Mediterranean theater of operations. He was a 65 year member of IBEW 295 in Little Rock. During his career he worked throughout the country including Cape Canaveral, Fla. Joe was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Conway. He was also preceded in death by his wife Martha June Haden Dickens; brothers, Dennis, George, E.A. (Calf), and T.J. Dickens; and his sisters, Pearl Glover and Connie McVey. Survivors include his his sister, Barbara Matchett; brother, Bill Dickens; and special niece and nephew, David and Kay Dickens; and several other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Patrick, Susan, Jessica, Joshua, and Josiah Dickens for their devoted and loving care over the past four years. The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, with Bro. Tim Kellerman officiating. Interment will follow Thorn Cemetery.
