Wenonah Fay Baughn Holl

WENONAH FAY BAUGHN HOLL passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, in Little Rock, Ark. Born Aug. 19, 1915, she was the daughter to the late R.N. Baughn and Zearl Russell Baughn in Belleville, Ark., and moved to Conway when she was a year old and called central Arkansas home. She was married to Gordon Hain Holl in 1942. She received her education in the Conway public schools and obtained her bachelor degree from the University of Central Arkansas. She attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin and Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn. Wenonah worked as a high school teacher in the Delta and a college professor at Hendrix, UCA, and Peabody. Wenonah shared a passion for the arts and humanities with her husband and remained involved as administrators, teachers, and supporters well into retirement. As Wenonah once put it, "she only retired from a paycheck." Wenonah's primary desire was to open up new vistas for others so that they, too, could know the richness of living and enjoying every day, the little as well as the big things. A memorial service for Wenonah will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at 10 a.m., at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock. Arrangements by Ruebel Funeral Home, www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
