Gerald K. "Ken" Reaves, 90, passed away at an area hospital, September 4, 2011. He was born March 23, 1921 to Will J. & Lessie (Laws) Reaves in Wilmar, Arkansas. Gerald was a family man and faithful husband to his wife of 64 years. He was a great father and a very special grand/great-grandfather. He served in the United States Marines during WWII in the South Pacific. He and his wife were former owners of Park View Dairyette and were members of Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church; he served as a board member for the Chamber of Commerce, Housing Authority, Womack Hunting Club & Sulphur Hill Water Association. He was also a board member of Stella Smith Boys Club and a former president of the Rotary Club. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; wife Nel Reaves; one daughter, Marcia Huffman; three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Majors of Hot Springs and Lynda (Robert) Smith of Hot Springs; Seven Grandchildren, Randy (Michelle) Huffman, Mark (Sandy) Huffman, Lori Walton, Matt (Brandi) Smith, Dylan (Amber) Smith, Dustin Smith, Amber Majors Brunk, and nine great-grandchildren. Pallbearers: Randy Huffman, Mark Huffman, Matt Smith, Dylan Smith, Dustin Smith, and David Reaves. Honorary Pallbearers: Lori Walton and Amber Majors Brunk. Visitation will be held at Atkinson Chapel Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at Atkinson Chapel Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 10 a.m. with interment following at Shadowlawn Cemetery. Officiating: Bro. Darryle Sulton In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church or the Nel Reaves Community Outreach Ministry at Sulphur Springs Missionary Baptist Church..
