James C. Daniel, 96 years young, went to heaven on September 4, 2011 to be with his two greatest loves, Jesus and Connie, his wife of 67 years. Mr. Daniel was born May 5, 1915 in Vilonia, Arkansas, to Rev. A.F. Daniel and Arabelle Choate Daniel. Preceded him in death were his parents; the love of his life, Connie Mae (Price) Daniel; nine sisters and three brothers. Mr. Daniel is survived by his son, the Reverend Doctor Jim Daniel and his wife, Sue; two granddaughters, Marsha (John) Kasianczuk of Corona, Calif.; Karla Ortiz of Chicago, Ill.; and one grandson, Scott (Kim) Mowry of Houston, Texas; three great-granddaughters, Shenna Engleman of Chicago, Ill.; Danielle (Skylar) Miller of Skiatook, Okla.; Kayla Mowry of Houston, Texas; one great-great-granddaughter, Madison Mercy Miller of Skiatook, Okla.; many nephews, nieces and a host of friends. He loved people and people loved him. Mr. Daniel was a member of Little Rock First Church of the Nazarene. He was a great churchman and served as Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher, Church Board member, Church Building Committee Chairman, Director of Prime Timers, and South Arkansas District Extension Board. He received several Distinguished Service Awards. He had a heart for others to know Jesus Christ. Mr. Daniel began the building trade being taught by his preacher father beginning at 12 years of age and retiring at 62. They returned to Searcy from Little Rock as he had promised Connie they would when he retired. He was a master craftsman who worked 33 years as a construction superintendent for J.T. Cone Construction, Inc. Little Rock, Ark. He mentored many young men in construction who became construction superintendents. From October 2001 to May of 2011, Mr. Daniel lived at Harding Place in Searcy. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, 411 E. Race, Searcy, Ark. Celebration of Life service will be held 1 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2011 at Searcy Church of the Nazarene, Hwy. 36, Searcy, Ark. (501) 268-6436 with officiating ministers his son, Dr. Jim Daniel, his pastor Dr. Dan Casey, and Rev. Randall Beatty. Burial will follow at Pickens Chapel Cemetery.
