Helen A. Gavin

Helen A. Gavin, age 99, of Lake Village, formerly of the Bellaire Community, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at Lake Village Health and Rehabilitation Care Center. She was born Aug. 13, 1912, in Rye, Ark., the daughter of the late Church Spakes and Nola Kimbrell Spakes and was a homemaker and a member of Bellaire Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. Gavin and by three sons and one daughter, Earl, Donald and Harry Jr. Gavin and Elizabeth Gavin. Survivors are five sons, Wayne, Thomas, Leon and Kenneth Gavin, all of Crescent City, Calif., and Charles Gavin of McGehee; six daughters, Maycel Lane and Nita Stracener, both of Lake Village, Peggy Wilson of Monroe, La., Sheila Lindsey of McGehee, Phyllis King of Rome, Ga., and Vickie Jones of Arkadelphia; 25 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandson. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, at Bishop Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at Prosperity Cemetery near Pansy, Arkansas with Bro. James Early Payne officiating. Arrangements are by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
