Peggy Nelson McBroome

Mrs. Peggy Nelson McBroome, native of McCrory, died Friday, April 6, 2012. She was 66 years of age. Visitation was from 12 to 2 p.m. followed by the service at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 all at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCory with their directors in charge of arrangements. Interment was in Woodman Cemetery. Peggy was born in McCrory on March 4, 1946 to Hubert and Irene Stringfellow Nelson. She was a graduate of McCrory High School and was married on Aug. 8, 1965 to Norman McBroome who survives. At one time, Peggy owned and operated Slender Images in McCrory where she served sandwiches and frozen yogurt on one side of the building and had an exercise room on the other. She later became an employee of ARcare where she was a Provider Enrollment Specialist and was still working there at the time of her death. Peggy loved people, painting, cooking, gardening, flowers and yard sales. She had a great love for children and had started a children's ministry at West View Baptist Church where she was a member. Peggy had many friends and co-workers who will miss her and a family that will never be the same without her. The world has lost a great lady but Heaven has gained one. Survivors include her husband, Norman McBroome; three sons and their wives, Scott and Beth of Heber Springs, Ross and Amy of Fort Smith, and Bradley and Tina of Maumelle; two brothers, James and Patty Nelson of McCrory and Doyle and Sandy Nelson of Southaven, Miss.; one sister, Charlene Hammond and husband Harold of Southaven, Miss. and five grandchildren, Abbi, John, Madison, Kaden and Parker McBroome and another one on the way. She is preceded by her parents, and two sisters, Freda Walker and her husband Billy and Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Cartwright. Pallbearers were David, Stan and Butch McBroome, Billy Marshall Shadwick, Marco Orsco, Michael Hammond and Ryn James. Honorary pallbearers were Pat and Ricky McBroome, Wayne and Shelly Woods and John David Shadwick. Memorials may be sent to the Susan G. Kohmen Foundation in Little Rock.
