James D. Evans

James D. Evans was born March 7, 1920 in Carlisle, Arkansas to James Leroy and Lillie Herring Evans. He died April 9, 2012 at the age of 92. He was pre-deceased by first wife Elsie Shoptaw Evans, brother Leroy and sister Marie Ulrich. J.D. will be dearly missed by wife Norene Evans, Gary Evans, Bill Gabello, Donna Finney, granddaughter, Aubrey, great-granddaughter Taylor BrieAnne; step-children Cindy and Dickie Boyles, Debbie and Wesley Kluck and Robert and Pam Hicks, and their families. He will also be missed by sisters, Winnie Cotter and Lillie Hardcastle. J.D.'s families want to extend their most heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lehmberg, Tresa Hooks and all the incredible staff in the Palliative Care Unit at the J.L. McClellan VA Hospital. Their compassionate attention to the last days of his life allowed him to die with dignity and gave great comfort to the family. Funeral will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, North Little Rock, Arkansas, Friday, April 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116 (501-791-7400).
