Martha Pirtle Huffer, 93, of Hazen, was born on July 7, 1918 in Walters Chapel (Lonoke County), Arkansas to James W. Pirtle and Grace Booe Pirtle. She passed away April 16, 2012 in Houston, Texas, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lester Huffer. Martha is survived by her two beloved daughters, Marilyn H. Ligon of Houston, Texas and the late Ralph E. Ligon, M.D. and Jo Huffer Ford and husband, Paul R. Ford of Searcy; four granddaughters, Leah Ligon Crosswell and husband, Allen, Heather Ligon Crosswell, and husband, Brady both of Houston, Texas, Mandy Ford Irving of Letona, Arkansas and Leann Ford Miles and husband, Derek of Maumelle, Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren who loved their precious Grand Mommy and so enjoyed her attention and presence at the many activities of which they were involved. Martha loved her community and her wonderful life-long friends in Hazen. She was a charter member of the Hazen Twentieth Century Club, a member of the V.F.W. Auxillary, and the Hazen United Methodist Church, of which she had been a life long member. Martha was a homemaker and a beloved Mother to her children, an exemplary guide for their lives, and a perfect example of genuine goodness. Martha's family will miss her always. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Firsst United Methodist Chruch in Hazen. Burial will follow at the Hazen Cemetery.
