Erma L. Tinsley-Cook, 73 of Pine Bluff, AR died at JRMC on Sunday, July 29, 2012. Mrs. Cook was born December 12, 1938 in Cornerstone, AR, daughter of the late Eddie Tinsley and Mandy Nelson Tinsley. She attended school in Pine Bluff and graduated from Merrill High in 1958. She was united in marriage to Albert Cook and relocated to Battle Creek, MI in 1958. She earned an Associate Degree from Kellogg Community College.She was an educator in the Battle Creek Public Schools for 23 years. Her civic involvement included Michigan Education Association and National Education Association delegate; union President; member of the Neighborhood Planning Council in Battle Creek; and she diligently worked every election until her illness for Jefferson County. Sister Cook served as the Adult Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent of Sunday School. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and auntie loved by all. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Albert Cook of Pine Bluff, two sons, David Cook of Detroit Mich., Albert Stanley Cook and his wife Tammi of Crown Point, Ind.; daughters, Sharon Hogan of Charlotte, N.C., Janice Cook Johnson and her husband Gregory of Wixom, Mich.; three sisters, Ida Robinson and Lueretha Mixon both of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Eldorado Holmes of Hercules, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 at First Trinity COGIC by Pastor Curtis Cook. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Memorial Garden by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff. Visitation will be Friday from 3-7 p.m. with a family hour from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church from 9:45 a.m. until time of service.
