MARY DAVENPORT WERT KIMPEL, 89, of Little Rock, Ark., passed to the Lord's care on Aug. 1, 2012. Mary was born on Dec. 9, 1922 to William and Katherine Wert in Chattanooga, Tenn. She graduated from Benton High School in Benton, Ark., and after a few years while working as a receptionist at the Hurricane Creek aluminum plant in Bauxite, Ark., met a young engineer named Paul Henry Kimpel Jr. They were married on July 19, 1944, and enjoyed 68 years of marriage. Mary was a homemaker, raised and educated four children, and dealt with moving 13 times, as Paul's work with Alcoa took them to cities including St. Louis, Mo., Pittsburgh, Pa., Little Rock, Ark., Pinjarra, Western Australia, and Kingston, Jamaica. They retired to Little Rock in 1981, where they were faithful members of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Katherine Wert; brother, William H. Wert Jr., and sister, Majorie Wert Shroeder. She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul of Little Rock; son, Paul (Sally) Kimpel III of San Diego, Calif.; son, William (Nancy) Kimpel of Little Rock; daughter, Carolyn (Kurt) Musfeldt of Nashville, Tenn., and daughter, Anne (William) Hahnel of Hebron, Ky.; grandchildren, Lauren (Brian) Baker, Kyle (Jenni) Kimpel, Nathan Musfeldt, Eric Musfeldt, Katherine Hahnel, Thomas Kimpel, and Elizabeth Hahnel; great grandchildren, Bradley Kimpel and William Baker. Mary's great passion was her family. Through many moves including some out of the country, Mary's devotion to her family was the core that kept connections close. Her great talent was being able to create warmth, welcome, and comfort in her home. An excellent cook and a charming hostess, she made lasting friendships wherever she lived. She enjoyed Bridge Club with long-time Benton, Ark., friends, coordinating weddings at WHPC, flower arranging, beautiful clothes, collecting and displaying pieces of Wedgewood Blue china in her home, and cooking and entertaining for friends and family. Everyone in our family remembers how good Mom's home smelled when we would arrive for holidays or other visits! Mary was a gracious, beautiful, conservative southern-bred lady who loved to call the Hogs, had a sense of humor and a red-faced laugh that made everyone in the room join in, and loved the spirituality and fellowship with her church. Services will be held at Westover Hills Presbyterian Church on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, Rev. Michael Kuner officiating. Visitation shall start at 10 a.m., with funeral services at 11 a.m., and graveside burial immediately following at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, Ark. Pallbearers will be Kyle Kimpel, Nathan Musfeldt, Eric Musfeldt, Thomas Kimpel, Maxwell Compton and Brian Baker. Funeral services to be handled by Ruebel Funeral Home, 6313 W. Markham St. Little Rock, Ark. 72205. Please contact the funeral home regarding services, flower deliveries or other information at 501-666-0123. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com. The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA's and staff at Presbyterian Village for their devotion and endless care during her final years there, the loving and caring support of Arkansas Hospice, and the frequent and welcomed visits from her Westover Hills friends. The family will accept flowers, or preferably, a donation to the "Mary Kimpel Memorial Fund," in care of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church, 6400 Richard B. Hardie Dr, Little Rock, Ark. 72207.
