Carolyn Lorene Hansen

Carolyn Lorene Conrey Hansen, 77, of Richardson, Texas passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at her home after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 20, 1934, in Stuttgart, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lorene Conrey. She attended St Mary's College at Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in 1956. Carolyn moved to Dallas and worked at Chance Vought in Grand Prairie on various aeronautical projects including the F-8 Crusader. She left Chance Vaught to rear her family and later returned to the workforce. Her last employer was the US Environmental Protection Agency where she worked for 15 years until her retirement in 2007 as an Environmental Protection Specialist overseeing Superfund Site cleanups for Region 6. Carolyn was an avid bridge player who played weekly at several local bridge studios and competed in numerous tournaments throughout the Dallas area on a regular basis. Carolyn achieved Life Master rank for her bridge play. Carolyn had a deep interest in genealogy and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Jane Douglas chapter in Dallas. Carolyn also was a die-hard Texas Rangers fan from the time of their arrival in Arlington and she attended several games each season. She is survived by her daughters, Alice Hansen of Richardson and Lorene Wojciechowski and her husband Christopher; granddaughter, Lucy Wojciechowski all of O'Fallon, Mo.; brother, William D. (Dick) Conrey, of Siloam Springs, Ark.; niece, Mary; and nephews Tommy and Charles. The family will receive friends on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Dr., Plano, Texas, officiated by The Rev. Clifford Smith. A reception will follow at the church following the mass. Carolyn will be laid to rest on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. in their family plot at Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart, Ark. Memorials may be made in Carolyn's name to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75231.
