James A. Brown, age 85, of Calmer, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at his home. He was born June 20, 1927 in Rison, a son of the late James Elmond Brown and Eula Lain Brown. Mr. Brown graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1944. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Brown was a retired farmer, and spent many years working in the oil field. He was a Jehovah's Witness. Mr. Brown loved fishing, working, having family time and playing the guitar. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Louise Brown; two brothers, William Harley Brown, Ulyss H. Brown. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Sue Hobbs Brown of Calmer; four sons and daughters in law, King M. Brown and Tanya of Lander, Wyo., James K. Brown and Connie of Richmond, Texas, Kraig R. Brown and Chaille of Palmyra, Kirk Brown and Shannon of Rowell; one brother and sister-in-law, Floyd Brown and Virginia of Pine Bluff; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Graveside services are 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home. Sons will serve as pallbearers.
