MARGUERITE SCHMUCK CORATO ROUBY, surrendered her last breath at 6:45 p.m. at Presbyterian Village Nursing Home in Little Rock, Ark. on Aug. 7, 2012. She was born on Oct. 9, 1923 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. to Frank J. and Vallie Wood Schmuck. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lt. Peter Vincent Corato, a U.S. Army Air Forces pilot who was killed in action stateside in April 1945, and her husband of almost 60 years, Jason Pierre Rouby, who passed away in January 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Dillon; her daughter, Christina Velasquez (Jim) and her son David Rouby (Marti), all of Little Rock, Ark.; her grandchildren, Lisa Pelton (Greg) of Bryant, Ark., Angela Wilson (Tim) of Hot Springs, Ark., Aaron Rouby of Tallahassee, Fla., and Rachel Rouby (Doug) of Fort Worth, Texas; her step-grandchildren, Reid Smith (Candy) of Benton, Ark., Logan Smith of Little Rock, Ark.; her great-grandchildren, Hannah Pelton, Sam Wilson, Wyatt Wilson and Caroline Pelton; and her step great-grandchildren, Parker Smith and Natalie Smith; her brother-in-law, Jerry Rouby (Portia) of Fort Myers, Fla., and her adoring canine companion, Darby. Maggie grew up in Jonesboro, Ark. and attended Blessed Sacrament Parochial School, Holy Angels Academy and Arkansas State University. As a war bride, she and Pete traveled all over the US. After Pete's death, she remained in Jonesboro to raise her daughter, Carole. Maggie and Jason were married in 1951 and moved to Little Rock. They also moved to Washington, DC for two years and to Omaha, Neb. for five years, each time returning to make Little Rock their home. Maggie worked as a secretary at the Pulaski County Vo Tech School from 1969 until her retirement in 1985. She delighted in raising her family, staying in touch with life-long friends, and going to estate sales and antique flea markets. She joined St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1983, and was a member of the Columbarium Committee and served as the Church Registrar. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of her many caregivers at St. Vincent Hospital, and the wonderful caregivers and staff of Presbyterian Village Nursing Home and Arkansas Hospice for their care and compassion. Visitation at Ruebel Funeral Home will be held today Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a memorial service at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1000 North Mississippi Avenue, Little Rock, Ark. on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at 10 a.m., with interment in the St. Mark's Columbarium immediately following. A reception will be held in the church hall following internment. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, St. Francis House, Presbyterian Village Nursing Home or your favorite local animal welfare group.
