Robert Johnson Atwell

Robert Johnson Atwell, 89, of Lonoke, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. He was born December 27, 1922 in Ridgely, Tennessee to the late Lee and Vandy Trimm Atwell. Robert was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cabot. He was a welder and pipefitter his entire life and was a 30 year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local #155. After his retirement, he continued to weld and tinker in his shop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Mr. Atwell is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lucy Louise Tipton Atwell of Lonoke; his children, Connie Louise Sawyer of Cabot and Larry Robert Atwell of Jacksonville, Florida; his sister Ruby Griffin of Hughes, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Kyle Burton and Melissa Ratliff; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2012 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the funeral home, with burial following in Union Valley Cemetery in England, Arkansas.
