Lorane Flowers McBryde, 91, of North Little Rock, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 20, 2012. Born August 9, 1921, in Spring Hill (Hempstead County) she was a daughter of Will D. and Annie Maude Collins Flowers. Mrs. McBryde was reared and received her early education in Spring Hill. She was the salutatorian of the Spring Hill High School class of 1939. Lorane Flowers married Cecil Lee McBryde, Sr. on June 1, 1939. Mr. McBryde preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. McBryde was a long time Girl Scout leader, board member of the Arkansas Post Girl Scout Council, and a proud graduate of a Dale Carnegie Course. Mrs. McBryde was a switchboard operator at the Southwest Proving Grounds in Hope during World War II. She answered the call that brought the news of Franklin Roosevelt's passing. Mrs. McBryde was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff where she taught Sunday School for many years. Most recently she was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Mrs. McBryde was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son, Cecil Lee McBryde, Jr., one daughter, Lynda McBryde Easter, seven brothers, three sisters. Survivors include one brother, W.D. "Dub" Flowers of Hope; daughter and son-in-law, Jean McBryde and Frank Pamplin of Bryant; daughter, Joan McBryde Townsend of White Hall; son-in-law, Rex M. Easter, Sr. of Little Rock; daughter-in-law, Leslie McBryde of North Little Rock; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jennifer Easter and Paul Harrison of Prosper, Texas; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Rex M. Easter Jr. and Michele Easter of Little Rock; granddaughters, Mandy and Amelia McBryde of North Little Rock, Cecilee and Parker Pamplin of Bryant; grandsons, Luke and Tommy Lane Townsend of White Hall; great- granddaughters, Kelsey, Ashley, and Chloe Harrison of Prosper, Texas; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Megan, and Rex M. Easter III of Little Rock. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., today in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Reverend Jerry Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son.
