Louis "Butch" Brown left this life on August 19, 2012 at the age of 65. Born in the base hospital at the San Diego Navy Base, Louis was the son of Louis Milton Brown, Sr. and Victoria Hunt Brown. Much of his early life was spent being a "Navy brat" at bases in California. Upon his father's honorable discharge from the Navy, the family relocated to Monticello, Arkansas where he spent the bulk of his childhood and early adulthood. He moved to Little Rock in 1975 to take a job at Union National Bank as a computer programmer, and called Little Rock home from then on. Louis was on the leading edge of computer programming, starting by teaching himself when he worked at Burlington in Monticello. He was instrumental in writing the program that ATM machines use to this day. He was also an avid golfer, and it was a joke between Louis and his children that he would play golf in anything but lightening, including a tornado. It was his wish that the 16th Hole of Lakeview Country Club be named after him when he left this world. Louis is survived by his daughter Tracey Brown Noel and her husband Lushon and their children Justin and Shawna, and his great-grandson Bradley; and his son Robert Brown and his children Samantha and Gage; and his sister Sandra Brown Brogan, her husband Jerry and their children. He is also survived by his ex-wife Wanda Hayes. They were the best of friends even after their divorce, and shared a bond that went deeper than just sharing kids and grandkids. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at North Little Rock Funeral Home. Louis did not want a funeral, but instead he wanted an Irish Wake. The Irish wake will be held on Saturday, August 25 from 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the Legion Hut located at Mann Road and Leah Lane in Mabelvale, with the Maverick Mixers, his square dance club, which he loved. A eulogy will be delivered by Bill Strum, followed by an Irish toast. All are invited to attend and share your favorite memory of Louis. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
