Lucille "Tootsie" Baker Carter, 93, of Searcy, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Frank and Cora Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Skaggs; her husband, Herman Carter; brothers, Truman, Herman, Elmer and Walter Baker; sisters, Frankie Mae and Ocie Myrtle Baker; Mamie Boggs; Lettie Gentry; Gereda Greer; and her good friend, Hubert Singleton. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Tootsie retired from working as a grocery clerk. She taught Sunday School at Honey Hill for many years. She was a member of Searcy First Baptist Church for 40 years. She lived in the Searcy area all her life and had many friends. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home. Services will be 10 a.m., Friday at the funeral home chapel with Bro. David Crouch officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Family request that memorial contributions may be made to the Searcy First Baptist Church or Searcy Hospice Home Care.
