Virginia (Tidwell) Cloar

Virginia (Tidwell) Cloar died Sunday, August 26, 2012, at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Ralph Cloar Sr. They lived in Pine Bluff where Virginia was a saleslady and wedding consultant at Cohen's Fashion for 50 years. She was an accomplished seamstress and was known for refurbishing heirloom wedding gowns. In 1964 she chaperoned Miss Arkansas to the Miss America pageant. Virginia and her husband traveled the state with the Rocking Rebs square dancing group for many years. She was an assistant to the Director at the Jefferson Co. Historical Museum where she put together the largest doll exhibit in the state. The Cloars were members of Southside Baptist church in Pine Bluff 60 years and upon moving to Little Rock in 2001 were members of Calvary Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Tidwell, Jack Tidwell and Milton Tidwell; a sister, Betty Lou Robinson; a son, Frank Thomas Cloar and a granddaughter, Mary Virginia Cloar Struthers. Survivors include a sister, Alice Wilson of Texarkana; two sons, Ralph Cloar Jr. (Katy) of Little Rock; Robert Cloar (Mary Lynne) of Fort Smith; grandchildren, Tee Cloar (Julie) of Memphis, Tenn., Libba Burle (Bill) of Greenville, Miss.; Lynn Cooper (Sam), of Little Rock; Ralph Cloar III (Kay), Russellville; Kimberly Burton (Randy), Denver, Colo.; Justin Cloar, Fort Smith; Ginelle Cloar, Sonoma, Calif.; and 13 great grandchildren. A visitation will be at Friday, August 31, at 1 p.m. service to follow at 2 pm, Calvary Baptist Church, 5700 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, Ark.
