Alvin Truett Conn was born in Jonesboro, Louisiana on January 1, 1923 and died February 12, 12, 2012 at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lessie E. Conn, father, Redmond H. Conn, brother, Basil Conn, and sister, Marie Conn, all from Jonesboro, La. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Jo Layne Conn, two daughters, Debra Wilson and her husband Stewart Wilson, Jan Herren and her husband Marty Herren and four grandchildren, Joel Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Kyle Herren, and Emily Herren all of El Dorado, Ark. Truett attended Weston Public School where he graduated in 1941 and later attended Louisiana Tech, where he graduated in 1950. He was an active member of several Baptist Churches where he faithfully served as teacher, deacon, and held other church offices. Truett served in the Army Air Corp from 1942-1946. He worked at Arkla Gas for 40 years and was a member of the Rotary Club for 40 years where he served with pride. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Immanuel Baptist Church in El Dorado with Rev. Faron Rogers and Rev. Bruce Murphy officiating. Visitation was held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Young's Funeral Directors in El Dorado. There will also be a visitation Tuesday from 5:30 to7:30 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church at Jonesboro, La. Committal services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Jonesboro, La. with Rev. Randy Lee officiating and interment to follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors of El Dorado.
