Harrod Maurice Cobb

Harrod Maurice Cobb, age 80, of Ola died Monday, January 23, 2012 at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center. He was born May 18, 1931 at Belleville to the late Eugene Jerrod and Hazel Harrod Cobb. He graduated from Ola High School in 1949 as Valedictorian. He graduated from U of A College of Pharmacy in 1953, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1955. After discharge, he worked retail pharmacies in Morrilton, Conway, and Pine Bluff. In 1958 he went to work as a Sales Representative for Parke-Davis Drug Co. calling on physicians, pharmacies, and hospitals. In 1971 he returned to Ola with Cobb Drug Store, and later took over and purchased the pharmacy from his father. Maurice ran his business, working daily until he fell ill in late 2011. He was a member of the Ola United Methodist Church. He was also a member of NARD/NCPA, Arkansas Pharmacists Association and received the 50 year Gold Certificate in 2005 from the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy. He participated in various local school programs, civic organizations, and also supported U.S. Servicemen and Veteran's organizations. Dad was a sportsman and athlete. He enjoyed duck hunting, fishing and was a loyal razorback fan. As a member of the Oaklawn Jockey Club he owned horses, won a few races and loved going to the race meet. He was also an honorary member of the Frontier Social Club. He will be terribly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gene Lee Cobb. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Louise Bostick Cobb of Ola; two children, Donald M. Cobb and wife Donna of Hot Springs, William John Cobb and wife Sherry of Russellville; three sisters-in-law, Patti Cobb of Washington State, Glenda Manbeck of Pennsylvania, and Sue Duvall of Pottsville; five grandchildren, Shannon Rose and Husband Brandon of Dardanelle, Mckinna Wilsey of Hot Springs, Brecken Ermer and Husband Jesse of North Dakota, Shannon Rinke of Benton and Kara Rinke of Bryant; five great-grandchildren, Lexy and Zane Rose both of Dardanelle, Taten Wilsey of Hot Springs, Jaxon and Isabella Ermer both of North Dakota; one niece, Marilee Callister of Australia and one nephew, Robert Eugene Cobb of California. Funeral services will be held 2:00P.M., Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Ola United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Mullens officiating. Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery in Ola. Visitation was held Thursday. Pallbearers: Larry Rose, Coy Rose, Neil Tippin, Tony George, Steven Douglas Jr, Ritchie Tippin, Tommy Porter, and Jerry Porter. Honorary Pallbearers: Chuck Bishop P.D., Jerry Hodge, Bill Watson, Bill Newton P.D., Charles Oats P.D., Harlan Porter, Warren Birkhead, Damon Martin M.D., Phillip Tippin M.D., George Tippin, Thomas Muldoon, Harvey Manbeck PhD., George Wimberly P.D., Gerald Cain P.D., former friends and co-workers at Parke-Davis.
