Billie C. Stewart, 81, of Conway, went to be with his Lord after a courageous battle with lung cancer on March 1, 2012. He was born December 3, 1930, in Shady Grove, Arkansas, to the late William Lester and Ava (Stanton) Stewart. He is a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Quartermaster Striker. He was retired with 21 years of service from the City of Conway Fire Dept. and 33 years of award winning service with Shelter Insurance Co. He was an avid sportsman his entire life. He played baseball for legendary baseball coach Doc Williams. He coached some of the best women's softball teams in the state for many years. He enjoyed bird hunting, fishing and deer hunting. He loved playing golf and played competitively until his death. He was co-owner of Cadron Valley Country Club, in Conway. He loved life and his friends and family. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters, Una Mae Matthews and Esther Ellen Book; and one brother, Jimmy Stewart. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Sheryl Stewart of Conway; his children, Judy Yielding, Vickie Wilcox (Randy), both of Greenbrier, Glenece Troxler (Don) Debi Nabholz (Joe), both of Conway; a stepson, Jeff Pierce (Karan) of Rose Bud; one brother, Jerry Stewart (Martha) of Conway; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; Hilda Stewart-the mother of his daughters; and his beloved mother-in-law, Ann Reed. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, in Conway. Mr. Stewart's funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Bro. Freddie Mark Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Shady Grove, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to: American Cancer Society, P.O. The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care received from Dr. Tsuda and her nurses and staff at Conway Hematology Oncology Clinic and the nurses at the C.H.O.P. Unit of Conway Regional. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Heath Dycus, Jason Dycus, Matt Wilcox, Stewart Wilcox, Spencer Wilcox, Clay Nabholz, Stan Yielding and Kyle Troxler.
