George W. "Bill" Bard

George W. "Bill" Bard, 89, of Bryant, passed away March 1, 2012. He was born October 31, 1922 in Bauxite to the late James Arthur and Jewel Ewing Bard. Bill was a life-long Democrat, resident of Saline County and member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He served in the 782nd Tank Battalion During WWII. Bill was a former member of the Bryant School Board, Salem Water Commision, Soil Conservaton Board and Saline County Fair Board. A retired Alcoa maintenance mechanic, he was a member of United Steel Workers Local 4880. He was a dairy and cattle farmer and Master Gardener. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Loeta Bard, daughters, Cheryl and Gay Bard, grandsons, Joshua and James Moseley and brothers, Howard and J.A. Bard. Survivors, daughters, Joy Ward and husband, Jimmy of Benton, Carol Moseley and husband, David of West Memphis, Arkansas, Ellen Bard and husband, Michael Renner of Little Rock, grandchildren, Emory Persinger and husband, Chris, Jeremy Ward and wife, Andrea, Stacie Bratton and husband, John, Susan Pierce and husband, Zach of Paragould, great-grandchildren, Drew, Blaise, Peyton, Zach Persinger, Alex and Riley Ward, Jacob and Madelynn Bratton, Katherine Pierce, and great-great-granddaughter, Olivia Persinger. Memorial Services will be held Monday, March 5, 2012 at his home, 5592 Boone Road, Bryant, Arkansas at 1 p.m. Visitation will be at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Sunday, 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The family would like to thank the Mt. Carmel Community, staff and volunteers at Saline Memorial Hospice House in Bryant.
