Sister Richard Walter, age 96, died March 1, 2012. The family of John and Josephine Rumker Walter welcomed their daughter, Catherine, on Nov. 25, 1915 in Conway, Ark. Catherine entered St. Scholastica Convent August 30, 1934 and received the name of Sister Richard on her investing day. She worked 44 years in the culinary department at St. Scholastica. For eight years she was assigned as housekeeper and cook for Bishop Fletcher in Little Rock. Sister Richard is survived by six sisters: Margaret Parks, Frances McCaig, Mary Stephens, Hilda Hoyt, Martha Lock and Josephine Wood and two brothers: Johnnie and Fred. Preceding her in death are her parents, and four brothers: Diederich, Pete, Ed, and Martin. Pallbearers are Richard Walter, Joe McCaig, Bill Hoyt, Ralph Walter, Gary Walter and James Lock. Vespers for the dead will be Sunday, Mar. 4, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Monastery Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Monastery Chapel with Rev.
