Johnny Harold Hubach, 89, of Judsonia and Searcy died Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Born November 16, 1922 in Judsonia, he was the oldest of four children and the only son of George John Hubach, Jr., and Beulah Walmsley Hubach. He was the grandson of one of the first three Hubach brothers who were early pioneer immigrants who came to America from Germany, bringing with them their knowledge of growing and harvesting strawberries. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Hoofman Hubach; one sister, Betty Hubach Catlett; and one grandson Doug Edwards. He is survived by his second wife, Odell Haggard Hubach; one daughter, Diana Edwards and her husband Jim; two grandsons, John and Brad Edwards; four great grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; two step-daughters and their husbands and children; also several nieces and nephews, and many friends who will cherish their fond memories of him. Johnny was a WWII army veteran of the South Pacific and the 29th Engineer Battalion and a member of American Legion of Arkansas, First Baptist Church in Judsonia, and the Little Red RV Club. He enjoyed farming, gardening and cooking. The last 20 years of his working life were with the United States Postal Service. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Searcy, with funeral services following at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Searcy, or First Baptist Church of Judsonia.
