Mary Sue Shoffner, 86, of Searcy, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on October 10, 2012. She was born May 3, 1926, in Hampton, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Britton Johnston and Birdie Ann Johnston. Mrs. Shoffner is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Mike Shoffner; her sister, Charlotte West, of Hampton, Arkansas, and her sister, Betty Jean Hopper of Hampton, Arkansas. She is survived by her three daughters, Suzanne Rand and her husband Art of Searcy, Michele Hawkins and her husband Patrick of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Melissa Beene and her husband Charles of McComb, Mississippi; her sister, Floy Barnes of Hamburg, Arkansas; her brother, O.B. Johnston Jr. of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Christopher Rand, Mary Katherine Rand, Rachel Engle, Jennifer Finn, Michael Beene, Adam Beene, and Angela Beene; three great-grandchildren; and Linda Van Winkle, her longtime caregiver. Above all, Mary Sue loved the Lord and her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and active in Bible Study Fellowship until her illness. Visitation will be Friday from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home of Searcy, with a graveside service to follow at White County Memorial Gardens at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to First United Methodist Church of 304 N.
