Marjorie Stevenson

Marjorie Thomas Stevenson, age 92, died October 20th at Promise Specialty Hospital. She was born May 18th in Hot Springs County, Arkansas. Mrs. Stevenson held a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from Henderson State University. She was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years in the Gurdon Public Schools, She was a member of Curtis First Baptist Church where she taught for over 50 years. After the death of her husband in 1981, she continued to live on and manage Terre Noir Farms. For the past 6 years, she lived at Belmont Gardens in Vicksburg, MS. While living in Vicksburg, she enjoyed attending Vicksburg First Baptist Church. Mrs. Stevenson is survived by her daughter Sara S. Abraham (Freddy), Vicksburg; two sons, Robert W. Stevenson (Anice), Hernando, Miss., and Steven O. Stevenson, Keller, Texas; sisters: Joyce T. Stiffler and Iris T. Toombs, both of Gurdon, Ark.; Mary Ann T. Newton, Curtis, Ark.; Annette T. Dunn and Ruth T. Barham, Dallas, Texas; brother, Ira B. Thomas Jr., Curtis, Ark.; granddaughter: Angela Abraham Ladner (Mark), Jackson, Moiss.; grandsons: Thomas H. Stevenson (Jojie), Yokum, Texas; Rev. Clark Stevenson (Kelly) and Jon David Stevenson (Ashley), Olive Branch, Miss..; great-granddaughters: Amelia, Julianna, & Alexandra Ladner, Jackson, Miss. and Mary Stevenson, Olive Branch, Miss.; great-grandsons: Robert IV, John, Billy Stevenson, Maryland; Brice, Jack, Adam and Samuel Stevenson, Olive Branch, Miss. Mrs. Stevenson was predeceased by her husband, Judge R.W. Stevenson, Sr.; her parents, Stella and Ira B. Thomas Sr.; grandchildren: Julie Jabour Abraham and Lt. Robert W. Stevenson, III; sister, Judith T. Johnson. Graveside services will be conducted by grandson, Clark Stevenson at the Historic Hart's Chapel Cemetery on Wednesday, October 24th, at 2 p.m., Riles Funeral Home of Vicksburg and Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, Ark. are in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be: Freddy Abraham, Thomas Stevenson, Clark Stevenson, Jon Stevenson, Dr. Mark Ladner, Mark Edds, Freddie Stiffler and Robert Niehuss. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Curtis, Ark.
