Billy Gene Goodpasture

Billy Gene Goodpasture ,78, of Jonesboro passed away Friday October 26, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born in Reynoldsville, Illinois on March 19, 1934 and was the son of Alexander "Eck" and Sylvia Goodpasture. Bill lived in Jonesboro and attended the Church of God Seventh Day. He loved to crappie fish, work in his shop and spend time at his second home in Mt. Ida. His favorite past time was family cookouts and spending time with his grandkids. Bill was a retired repairman for the United Shoe Machine Co. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughters, Debbie Goodpasture Ethridge and Rebecca "Becky" Goodpasture Cline, brother, Garl Goodpasture and a sister, Mary Bennett. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy Goodpasture of the home; sons, John Goodpasture of Maumelle and William Goodpasture of Ashburn, Virginia; sisters, Jenny Hicks of St. Louis and Barbara Jean Goodpasture of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; granddaughters, Jennifer (Mike) Perryman, Amy (Joey) Goodpasture-Dickery, Brittany Lawrence and Kassey Cline; great-granddaughters Lily Goodpasture, Emma Goodpasture-Dickey; grandson, Tyler Goodpasture; great-grandson, Patrick Ameling. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday Oct 29, in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Trinity Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Active Pallbearers will be Tyler Goodpasture, Patrick Ameling, Joey Dickey and Mike Perryman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Junior Tucker, Jerry Tucker, Gene Cook, John Hunter, Gail Walker, RD Lemmons, and James Baggett. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. The family would like to thank Dr. Woodruff and Nurse Barbara and extended home health care for compassionate care given to Bill.
